SNES Classic Mini

SNES Classic Mini – Is the new anticipated retro game console just released by Nintendo! The SNES Mini Classic is compact & has new features, plus many new & classic Nintendo games. Check the SNES Mini Release Date & SNES Mini Classic Specs, & place orders.

It’s no surprise that the Super Nintendo Classic Mini sold out in such a short time after its announcement last June. The SNES Mini IS officially called Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System, its retro design and the list of included games made it the most desired piece of the moment, and there is not much to put it on sale.

The arrival of the SNES Classic follows the enormous success of the NES Mini, whose shipments to stores could never have covered the huge demand that existed, something that many profiteers took advantage of to get one (or several) and sell it later at exorbitant prices on eBay.

In this article you will find everything you need to know about the SNES Classic, including the SNES Classic games included, the SNES Classic specifications and if you can still reserve it in Spain.

List of SNES Classic Games

The micro console will go on sale with 21 games loaded into the system.

Below you can see the complete list of games that are included in the European and North American editions of the SNES Classic:

Street Fighter 2 Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Castlevania 4

Super Mario Kart
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Yoshi’s Island

The list of games includes Star Fox 2, a game that never came to be published. Apparently Nintendo cancelled it due to the imminent launch of Nintendo 64 and the desire of the producer Shigeru Miyamoto to achieve a clear division between the 3D games of SNES and Nintendo 64. To unlock Star Fox 2 must complete before the first level of the Star Original Fox.

The North American, Australian and European editions of the SNES Classic will have the same list of games. However, the Japanese edition will have a different alignment.

Knobs and specifications of the SNES Classic

What does the SNES Classic look like?

There are different designs of the SNES Classic, depending on your region.

Let’s face it: the European version is the most beautiful. The SNES Classic European is white and gray, and the controls have the characteristic red, yellow, green and blue buttons. The European edition has rounded edges and a more refined appearance. It is the same design that will be available in Australia and Japan.

The United States will have a different design. The North American version is white, gray and purple, and has a much more aggressive and rigid shape.

Although the Japanese design is the same as the European, the box is much more colourful and beautiful.

What is included with the SNES Classic?

The SNES Classic includes an HDMI cable, a USB power cable and two SNES Classic wired controllers. However, in Europe the power adapter for the USB cable, necessary to power the console, is not included, so it must be purchased separately or use the charger of any mobile phone we have at home.

The power adapter can be purchased separately.
Length of control cable of the SNES Classic

At a first glance it seems that the SNES Classic has the ports for the controls in the front, but it is only an ornament. The ports for Classic controls are the same as those for Wii, and are behind a panel. At the moment we do not know if a Wii Remote can be used with the console, but in the NES Classic Mini you could use the classic controller.

Luckily the cable of the controls now measures approximately one and a half meters, sixty centimetres more than those of the NES Classic. The controls also appear to be the same size as the original ones, and the console is small enough to be able to hold it with one hand.

Will PAL units work at the original 50Hz?

PAL units (Europe / Australia / New Zealand) will use the American versions of 60Hz, instead of the 50Hz originals. In the 1990s, PAL consoles ran at 50Hz instead of the 60Hz they used in the United States and Japan. That means PAL consoles were slower than their American and Japanese names. The games of the SNES Classic Mini will run at 60Hz, so the games will be fully optimized and run at full speed.

Do you need cartridges?

The cartridges are not needed, since the 21 games are preloaded into the system, so you will not have to blow for ten minutes in any of them waiting for it to work.

Where to book the SNES Classic and release date

The SNES Classic will go on sale in Europe and the United States on September 29. If you live in Australia you will have to wait another day, until September 30, and in Japan the wait will be even longer, as it will not go on sale until October 15.

Due to the huge demand some stores have raised the price of the console, but these are the official ones:

Europe – € 79.95
US $ 79.99
Australia – $ 119.95
Rest of Europe – $ 79.99 (TBC)
Japan – ¥ 7,980
Unsurprisingly, speculators have not been slow in buying units and putting stocks on sale at a higher price. That has made Amazon UK have rejected orders for more than one unit. However, eBay has also taken action on the matter, and is eliminating any resale of the console. “We will remove items of items and accessories that have not yet been offered for sale if there is more than 30 days left to launch the item,” an eBay representative told Eurogamer UK.

The speculators try to sell the SNES Classic at a higher price than the recommended one.
Has the SNES Classic been sold very fast?

On the day the SNES Classic was announced, bookings from several stores sold out quickly. Amazon UK was selling the console for 79.99 pounds (Prime members paid 77.99), and Amazon Spain for 79.95 Euros.

The stock of Amazon UK was finished in just a few minutes, and the following morning the chain of stores Smyths and also ran out. The day after the announcement, the official Nintendo store put the console available to reserve at 69.99 pounds, but the stock lasted only 23 minutes.

Can you still book the SNES Classic in Spain?

Unfortunately, everything points to the SNES Classic being sold out in Spain. At the moment we do not know if there will be more stock available before the launch of the console. If you did not get lucky at the time of booking it is possible that you have to wait until the launch to try to get one.

Where to book:

In case the SNES Classic is available again before the launch, here is a list of stores where you could reserve it. We have included two from the UK who also ship to Spain.

Where to book the SNES Classic Mini

£ 69.99 on the UK Nintendo Store
€ 79.95 on Amazon UK
€ 79.95 at GAME Spain
£ 79.99 at Smyths

Is the SNES Classic available for booking somewhere else?

In the rest of Europe it also seems exhausted.

In the United States, reservations are not yet available; more than a month after the console was announced. It appeared that Walmart accepted reservations in the United States a few weeks ago, but after exhausting the stock, customers received an email stating that their order had been cancelled due to a ‘technical glitch’, which means that reservations enabled by mistake.
