Chelsea News: Antonio Conte sends message to Frank De Boer after Crystal Palace sacking

Crystal Palace have opted to axe De Boer, who was appointed as Sam Allardyce’s successor over the summer.

The Dutchman lasted just four games – with Palace losing each and every one of them without scoring a goal.

And Conte has sent a message to his managerial counterpart, expressing his sadness at Palace’s willingness to sack him so quickly.

“I am sorry for him. It is normal when you start to work you try to ask for a bit of time for your work. I am sorry for him,” he said.

“To be a coach in the league is a great experience and to have only four games I am sorry for him. It is a pity.

“It is always very difficult to talk about the situations of another team, but for the man I am sorry for him.

“We know very well that our job is this. One game you win, you are top then you lose and you are the worst coach. Not just in England but the whole world.

“It is important to always have the right balance to judge.

“Every club must judge the work of the coach and sometimes there is a bit of emotion and you make a decision very strong after an emotional moment.”

Palace released a statement on the sacking earlier today, saying: “Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer.

“We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the club.

“A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future.

“There will be no further comment at this time.”
